Watchmen Arrives on HBO This Fall
October 20, 2019 at 9PM is the date to watch!
It is official! Watchmen is now part of HBO’s 2019 lineup. Take a seat and find out everything you need to know thus far about Damon Lindelof’s new series.
What is about? It is based on the graphic novel of the same name. Things are not as we might expect. The world is topsy-turvy. Watchmen is set in a place where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws. Lindelof (The Leftovers) graphically (no pun intended) embraces the nostalgia of the original exceptional, sui generis, graphic novel. The series promises to break new ground. He announced his intentions earlier this spring on Instagram.
Who is in the cast? It includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk.
What about the music? Is it worth a listen? Nine Inch Nails musicians, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will create the original music for the series. (You might recall that they were the film composers on The Social Network).
Any behind the scene news? Lindelof, is not only the main writer on the show, but will be an executive producer. He will be joined by Nicole Kassell and Tom Spezialy. Kassell (Westworld, The Leftovers) had the honor to direct the pilot episode. Other executive producers are Stephen Williams and Joseph Iberti. White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros.Television, is producing the series for HBO based on the indelible characters from DC.
While I wait, any suggestions as to what to watch? The choices are many! To inhabit and get an idea of Lindelof’s work, check out The Leftovers on HBO, or Westworld if you are looking for yet another new spin on the good guys vs. bad guys genre.
We’ll be watching! Fall is coming!
